The Call for Proposals for our 2024 OCP Global Summit and co-located Future Technologies Symposium is now closed.
The Open Compute Project (OCP) is about making Community led hyperscale innovations available to all. At the core of the OCP is its community of hyperscale data center operators, joined by telecom, colocation providers and enterprise IT users, working with vendors to develop open innovations that when embedded in products are deployed from the cloud to the edge.
The OCP Community is diverse, composed of engineers from large companies working on projects that will deliver tomorrows at scale products and services in the next 12 months, working alongside academics, researchers, and startups solving problems that will impact future products within the next 3-5 years. That is why OCP holds two collocated events: OCP Global Summit focused on innovations for tomorrow's products and OCP Future Technologies Summit that spotlights promising technologies. In submitting your proposal, please make sure to select the appropriate event OCP Global Summit, or OCP Future Technologies Symposium. If in doubt, and require guidance feel free to contact Kate Hendle, Manager of Events, at kate@opencompute.org.
2024 OCP Global Summit - Breakout Sessions
The OCP Global Summit will take place over three days from October 15-17, 2024. The Summit is intended to showcase (1) the work of the OCP Community that takes place in OCP Projects, highlight impact of OCP Projects in the market through deployments of OCP recognized equipment, (2) influence of OCP community through adoption of standardizations developed within the OCP Community, (3) and put a spotlight on new innovations that can significantly impact the market in the next product generation.
The Summit will be packed with Keynotes, Breakout Sessions, Exhibits, sponsored Executive and Expo Hall Sessions, OCP Innovation Village with interactive demo stations and lightning sessions, a Hackathon, and co-located workshops.
Breakout Sessions include:
- OCP Project sessions which are technical deep dives to allow for collaboration and intense discussions on current OCP Project activities and new products.
- Special Focus Sessions often curated by a special program committee on topics or new innovations that are relevant to OCP from adjacent communities
- OCP Foundation curated topics.
The content and mix for the OCP Global Summit Breakout Sessions will depend on the response to the Call for Proposals and the demand from our Community.

OCP Future Technologies Symposium
The OCP Future Technologies Symposium is intended to bring to the OCP Community a forward-looking funnel of ideas and talent, with a focus on solving future problems facing the industry, and accelerate productization through partnerships and collaborative R&D. The global academic, research, startup and venture communities are invited to participate to show their cutting-edge technologies and ongoing research and development projects. It is a unique opportunity to expose up-and-coming, best-in-class researchers and students to the OCP Community for purposes of impacting future product development, training, networking and recruitment.
Topics of interest for the Future Technologies Symposium include:
- AI / High-performance computing (HPC)
- Includes topics aimed at future generations of AI systems for AI/HPC and how it impacts AI cluster HW/SW design: energy-centric architectures for HPC, overall AI system efficiency, accelerating model training and inference, quantizing effects.
- Data Center Sustainability
- Includes topics aimed at new methods to prolong product life cycles, application of cutting-edge materials and technologies in shaping the life cycle of data center products, innovative research focusing on sustainable practices and technologies in the data center industry, carbon capture technologies, development and application of high-efficiency, environmentally friendly energy storage solutions, future generation energy reuse, novel methodologies for carbon accounting and costing, particularly as applied to AI/ML, trends and future implications of policy and regulation pertaining to achieving Net Zero, other cutting edge work on intersection of sustainability and data centers.
- Other Future Technologies From Adjacent Communities
- If you have a transformative idea outside of the above focus areas, examples include Quantum Technology or Power Co-generation, you may submit your work in this category.
