Future Technologies Symposium
The 2025 OCP Future Technologies Symposium was held on October 15, day three of the OCP Global Summit, and gathered people from academia, research, industry and startups to showcase the future technologies that will impact the OCP Community in the next 3-5 years. The OCP Future Technologies Symposium (FTS) spotlights promising technologies in the IT Ecosystem and brings to the OCP Community a forward-looking funnel of technologies which focus on solving future problems facing the industry, and accelerate productization through partnerships and open source R&D.
After receiving a record number of submissions, this year’s program included more than 60 speakers and displayed work in 30 posters. Talks included invited keynotes, author presentations in two technological tracks: AI/HPC and Data Center Sustainability, and a FTS breakout: Quantum (Hybrid data centers and communications networks). Additionally, there were two Future Technologies Initiative (FTI) special focus tracks: Data Centric Computing and Short Reach Optical Interconnects. A new FTI workstream focused on NeoCloud Operators was launched.
The Best FTS Paper and the $10,000 prize was awarded to Universal Smart Cooling (UniSCool), who presented a paper titled “Disruptive Cold Plate Configuration with Self-adaptive Fins for Local Control of Heat Extraction Capacity”. The Best Sustainability Paper was awarded to Accelsius: “Two-Phase Micropillar Evaporators to Enable Cooling of Next-Generation GPU Servers” and the Best AI/HPC Paper award went to ZincFive: “New Battery Capability for Dual-Use UPS Power and AI Factory Dynamic Power Management”.
All sessions from the OCP FTS and FTI Breakout sessions will be available soon on the Past Events section of our website.
