The theme for our 2025 OCP Global Summit, “Leading the Future of AI”, exemplifies the OCP Communities collaborations over the years that drives openness, efficiency, sustainability, scalability and growth shaping the future of AI data centers, driving innovation across the global data center and edge technology ecosystem. With AI, the pace of technological evolution has increased dramatically and the collaborations within the OCP Community have become central to enabling a rapid AI data centre buildout.
As artificial intelligence reshapes industries, economies, and societies, we are at an inflection point in the data center industry driven by large investments in high density computational infrastructure for AI training and then deploying smaller-scale computing at the edge for inference. The demand for scalable, efficient, and sustainable data center infrastructure has never been greater.
Through its Open Systems for AI strategic initiative, OCP Community has identified the need to rethink data center physical infrastructure and facilities, IT infrastructure, systems management, and silicon supply chains. Important technology advancements in the data center delivering large-scale AI clusters for training include: (1) chiplet technology and associated advanced packaging, (2) subsystems such as cooling, power distribution, networking, storage, and server architectures, and (3) systems management. Placing AI inference at the edge will require smaller scale but still high-performant computational equipment and high-speed low latency optical communication networks to tie everything together. This initiative empowers the global OCP community to address the unique challenges of AI workloads.
We also must not ignore the hard fact that we must innovate to produce a new generation of IT equipment and data center facilities that are much less impactful to the environment. At OCP the community has taken the challenge to solve some of the most critical technical issues around sustainability, which is also a large concern of the OCP Community. There are many dimensions to the sustainability problem, it is the critical dimensions of power, water consumption and carbon production must be tackled as soon as possible.
This 2025 OCP Global Summit will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries to share the latest advancements, forge new partnerships, and define the community developed standardizations that will power the AI-driven future. By embracing openness and inclusivity, OCP is not only meeting the needs of today’s AI transformation but also laying the foundation for a resilient and digital infrastructure.
