Enabling an Open, Scalable, Sustainable AI Infrastructure – OIF Workshop

Tuesday, October 13 – 1:00 to 5:00pm – San Jose Conv. Center, Room: LL20BCD

Objectives:

  • Align on the key demands and challenges of AI infrastructure including exploding bandwidth needs, power and thermal constraints, high speed signal integrity, latency, and the risk of industry fragmentation
  • Understand the OIFโ€™s role in the development of interconnect standards and how these activities strengthen the industry ecosystem
  • Hear from industry luminaries on the impact of innovative OIF implementation agreements, interoperability specifications and demonstrations
  • Engage with industry leaders to enable a scalable AI infrastructure

Topics:

This workshop will address the OIF projects recently completed and currently underway to enable electrical and optical architectures and solutions as well as control interfaces between them. This will include 224Gbps and 448Gbps electrical channel specifications, next-generation optical channel specifications, CPO and NPO based architectures, external laser packaging, next-generation high density electrical interconnects, coherent optics, and common management interface firmware methodology.

Revolutionizing AI Scale Up with Pluggable NPO: Why Does It Matter? – IPEC Optical Interconnect Workshopย

Tuesday, October 13ย – 1:00 to 5:00pm – San Jose Conv. Center, Room: 230A

The next revolution in AI computing is being driven by scale up, enabling increasingly large and powerful โ€œSuperPods.โ€ As these systems continue to grow, physical electrical interconnects are approaching fundamental limits. Near Packaged Optics (NPO) introduces a new connectivity paradigm, moving optics closer to compute and making it an increasingly fundamental part of the computing system itself.

The objective of this workshop is to explore how NPO provides low propagation loss, high bandwidth, and superior signal integrity to overcome the fundamental limits of electrical interconnects, and to analyze system level performance across bandwidth, energy, and latency metrics. Industry stakeholders will share advanced NPO products, deployment experience, emerging architectures, and future technology roadmaps that extend optical connectivity deeper into AI systems.

The workshop will focus on hyperscale end user case studies, design and packaging challenges, implementation, and commercialization. Looking beyond todayโ€™s โ€œSuperPods,โ€ the workshop will explore the path toward increasingly large and tightly connected โ€œHyperPods,โ€ where optics prevails as the dominant interconnect technology across the system, enabling the next level of scale and integration. The workshop will bring together hyperscale and cloud operators, system integrators, switch vendors, and innovative technology vendors to exchange technology and market intelligence and help align future products, roadmaps, and supply chains around the next generation of AI computing.
