OCP Academy is building a new introductory course on Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) power distribution for data center facilities, and we want the OCP community’s expertise to shape it. This working session brings together community members to review proposed course content, share feedback on scope and accuracy, and help define what belongs in each module.
Workshop Agenda
Part 1: Voltage Classes, Nominal Voltages, and Operating Bands We’ll walk through the proposed coverage of IEC voltage classifications, preferred nominal voltages, and interoperability bands. Participants will weigh in on whether the framing is appropriate for a beginner audience and flag any gaps.
Part 2: Codes, Standards, and the Regulatory Landscape We’ll review the proposed content covering IEC, UL, NFPA, and IEEE frameworks, existing gaps in DC-specific standards, and interim compliance strategies. Participants will provide feedback on what’s missing, what’s misrepresented, and what the community most needs to understand.
Part 3: (tentative) System Main Components: Grid to Rack We’ll review the proposed component walkthrough from grid interface through AC/DC conversion, energy storage, distribution, and AI rack architecture. Participants will help validate technical accuracy and identify real-world considerations the course should address.
