The Water Efficiency Metrics & Grading Workstream is a workstream of the OCP Sustainability Project. It is establishing water efficiency metrics for data centers, because current metrics are not detailed enough: they do not account for geography and do not represent enough variation in the water and replenishment systems in use. The workstream is also working out how to communicate a facility’s resource efficiency to non-experts and how to communicate use of the metric to the wider industry.
Water Efficiency Metrics & Grading is a Workstream under the OCP Sustainability Project.
The workstream is establishing water efficiency metrics for data centers. Current metrics are not detailed enough: they do not account for geography, and do not represent enough variation in the water systems or the replenishment systems being used. The workstream is also establishing how to communicate a facility’s resource efficiency to non-experts, and how to communicate the use of the metric to the industry.
Scope
The workstream focuses on:
Metric Definition : water efficiency metrics that account for geography and variation in water and replenishment systems
Communication to Non-Experts : how to show resource efficiency to non-expert audiences
Industry Adoption : how to communicate the use of the metric to the industry
