OCP Academy Empowers Global Data Center Community with Open Learning

OCP Academy October 13, 2025 – Today, the Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP), the nonprofit international organization bringing at-scale innovations and hyperscale best practices to all, announced the official launch of OCP Academy, a new online learning portal designed to provide comprehensive educational resources for the global data center ecosystem and growing OCP Community. This initiative represents a significant stride in expanding OCP Community resources and fulfilling a long-standing objective of the OCP Foundation to provide continuing education using the extensive technical knowledge contained within the OCP Contributions Database.

OCP Academy builds on the vast information embedded within OCP’s contributions—encompassing specifications, designs, white papers, code, configurations, case studies—as well as OCP webinars, and OCP Summit recordings. Additionally, new, purpose-created content will be developed, based on the needs of the Community and the ever-changing data center infrastructure. Given the rapidly evolving landscape of data centers to power AI, OCP Academy will serve as a critical platform for online continuous education and professional development. Its content, presented in an e-learning training format, transforms technically dense written information into interactive and accessible learning, structured as self-paced courses comprising concise lessons.

“The launch of OCP Academy at Global Summit 2025 is a pivotal moment for the OCP Foundation and our vibrant community,” said James Kelly, VP Market Intelligence and Innovation of the OCP Foundation. “We are sitting on a tremendous wealth of knowledge, and OCP Academy will make this content more approachable and organized, empowering engineers and enthusiasts alike to deepen their understanding of open data center technologies. This couldn’t be more timely as AI is transforming data center facilities and IT while engineers and architects must keep up with accelerating change.”

OCP Academy is built on the Docebo platform, offering a trusted, robust environment for online learning modules, courses, and comprehensive cataloging. Key features of the platform include support for various content types, quizzing and knowledge testing, social interaction, certification, gamification, and reporting capabilities.

OCP Academy has two core objectives. First, it serves and grows the OCP Community by creating new technical value to attract, retain, and promote participation, membership, and technology alliances. Second, it seeks to ensure consistency and enhance the onboarding and ongoing experience, providing tailored training for new members, contributors, regional representatives, project leads, workstream leads, and steering committee members, specific to their volunteer roles. These dual objectives are evident in the OCP Academy’s two inaugural catalogs: Data Center Technologies and OCP Community Orientation.

OCP Academy courses are also recognized as community contributions. Technical content is authored and reviewed by and for the OCP Community. The OCP Foundation facilitates the development of these courses into interactive e-learning formats, incorporating elements such as videos, click-through hardware diagrams with explainers, and knowledge assessments. Upon completion, these courses are featured not only on OCP Academy but also within the OCP Marketplace, where they are cross-referenced with one or more relevant technical contributions.

Initial training offerings launching at OCP Global Summit include:

  1. OCP Open Systems for AI: A Blueprint for Scalable AI Clusters (6-part series)
  2. Open Chiplet Economy: Business and Technology of Chiplet-based Systems (9-part series)
