OCP Adds Three New Companies to its Board of Directors
October 13, 2025 – San Jose, CA – Today, the Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP), the international non-profit organization bringing hyperscale innovations to all, announced new additions to its Board of Directors.
Joining the current Board of Directors, previously made up of representatives from Google, Intel, Meta and Microsoft, as well as Andy Bechtolsheim, are leaders from AMD, Arm and NVIDIA. All three new board member companies have served on the OCP Advisory Board (AB) for the past two years, since its inception.

The representatives from each of the three new organizations are:
- Robert Hormuth, AMD – Corporate Vice President, Architecture and Strategy. In the AMD Data Center Solutions Group (DSG), Mr. Hormuth’s team is responsible for creating the long-term vision and strategy along with industry ecosystem engagements. Mr. Hormuth has 36 years in the computing industry, joining AMD in 2020 after 13 years with Dell where he was CTO of the Server Business unit, 8 years with Intel and 11 years at National Instruments. Robert currently serves on the University of Texas Computer Science Advisory Council.
- Mohamed Awad, Arm – Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Infrastructure Business. Mr. Awad and his team work closely with OEMs, silicon partners, tools, and the software ecosystem to ensure Arm is defining and developing high-performance, power-efficient solutions that meet the ever-changing requirements of the infrastructure markets. Prior to this role, he played a key role running Arm’s IoT business. Prior to joining Arm, Mohamed spent 10 years in various leadership roles at Broadcom including establishing the Mixed Signal Asic Products (MSAP) division and building Broadcom’s security and mobile payments business from the ground-up. Before Broadcom, Mohamed served in various leadership roles at Ember Corporation, an early IoT startup, where he most notably founded their European subsidiary, and held positions at Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks, and Avici Systems, where he led the development of various products, including core terabit routers and top-of-rack ethernet switches.
- Robert Ober, NVIDIA – Chief Platform Architect, Datacenter Products. Mr. Ober is NVIDIA’s Chief Platform Architect for data center products. He works with global Hyperscalers to architect AI clusters and datacenters, systems and platform architecture, and influence NVIDIA silicon, systems and software roadmaps. His background is in processor and system architecture, with experience in storage, networking, and wireless. Rob has over 40 international patents in processor architecture, storage, networks, wireless, and mobile devices.
“With the unprecedented growth of the AI Data Center, and the continuous need for innovative evolutionary technologies, the industry is at an inflection point between Hyperscalers and Semiconductors, along with the Infrastructure / OT developers. Therefore, OCP will expand its Board of Directors leadership, with AMD, Arm and NVIDIA, to continue to lead and collaboratively serve our Community, the ecosystem and industry, at large, becoming the premier organization for AI!” states George Tchaparian, OCP Chief Executive Officer.
“OCP has succeeded beyond our expectations in bringing open innovation and collaboration across the data center. As we look ahead at the challenges and opportunities of AI infrastructure it is clear we need to broaden the circle of leadership and accelerate progress. Adding AMD, Arm and NVIDIA to the board of directors helps their strong voices of innovation shape the direction for the next chapter of open infrastructure” states David Ramku, OCP Chairman of the Board of Directors.
These positions left vacant on the OCP Advisory Board (AB) will be filled, in addition to possible additional seats, through an open solicitation for interest among OCP’s more than 500 corporate member companies. The OCP Advisory Board is appointed by the OCP Foundation Board of Directors and the Foundation CEO to provide specialist and strategic advice to help solve a range of business and growth challenges. The AB members, with OCP BoD, will be asked to provide advice on how to grow the Foundation, manage a significant business or technology transition, and expand into new innovative technologies, market segments and geographies.
Prospective AB member companies will be evaluated on their contribution to the OCP Community using, but not limited to, the following criteria:
- Volunteer positions held by members of their Company
- Committed sponsorships for OCP events and directed funds
- Approved contributions with authors from their organizations
- Market place listings (for vendor member companies)
