The AS5900-54X is a budget-friendly switch design aimed at advanced Top of Rack and Carrier Edge deployments, providing 10G client connectivity and 100Gb uplinks to the network. With 48 SFP+ ports operating at 10Gb and six QSFP28 ports supporting 100G/40G and 25G/50G via suitable break-out cables, this switch offers a versatile solution.
The AS5900-54X features a PHY-Less design, allowing the SFP+/QSFP28 connections to directly attach to the Serdes interfaces of the Broadcom 88375 switching silicon, ensuring optimal cost, latency, and power efficiency. Moreover, it boasts advanced features typically found in Carrier Edge switches, such as expandable packet buffering connected directly to the BCM88375, expandable TCAM through a BCM52311 for extensive table capacities, and integrated advanced traffic management capabilities within the BCM88375.
Designed as a compact 1RU unit, the AS5900-54X accommodates standard 19” rack deployments and also complies with standard 21” Open Rack deployments utilizing the ORSA-1RU standard.
