George was also the General Manager for Accton Group's Open Disaggregated Networking Business. George also held senior management positions at Hewlett–Packard Corporation (HP) for more than 25 years, and has served as the Co-Chair of Open Compute Project (OCP) Taiwan regional community for many years and a member of the Open Network Foundation (ONF) board of directors. In 2018, George was recognized as one of "The World's First Top 50 Edge Computing Influencers" (#EDGE50) and in 2019, one of "The World's Most Influential Data Economy Leaders" (#POWER200).

“OCP has achieved remarkable growth in the past several years. The technology challenges ahead and goal to extend our impact across segments will require new approaches and new partnerships. I am extremely excited that George will be leading our Community on this journey ahead! In addition to understanding development practices and the worldwide supply chain, his experience creating partnerships will be key to addressing the business and technology challenges that we anticipate.” said Bill Carter, Chief Technology Officer for the OCP Foundation. Mr. Carter has served as the interim CEO/Executive Director since the retirement of Rocky Bullock and while the search was conducted. Mr. Carter has served as the Foundation’s Chief Technology Officer for nearly a decade, and will be stepping down in 2022 but will continue to serve the Foundation as a technical advisor.

The Foundation is currently conducting an executive search for a full-time Chief Technology Officer. “The Foundation is at an important juncture, having just celebrated our ten-year anniversary” states Rebecca Weekly, chairperson of the board for the OCP Foundation. “In addition to the hiring of industry veteran George, we now need to fill this important role with an individual who brings to the Foundation hardware, software, silicon and solutions experience as our collaborative innovations continue to meet the needs of worldwide organizations from the data center to the edge.”

“I am honored and incredibly excited to be assuming the role of the CEO for OCP. As an active member, contributor and volunteer leader for most of OCP's history, my passion continues to be fueled by enabling OCP members and its industry ecosystem to continue to accelerate innovation to meet the long-term opportunities of both technology and business challenges of our Community. OCP has a bright future ahead, and I look forward to working with our solid Foundation team, board of directors, OCP members and its growing ecosystem, to execute our next generation strategies and broadly apply OCP leadership to deliver greater value to the Community” states Mr. Tchaparian.
