What is the Open Compute Project?

The Open Compute Project is a rapidly growing community of engineers around the world whose mission is to design and enable the delivery of the most efficient server, storage and data center hardware designs available for scalable computing.

GETTING INVOLVED

If you are interested in working with the Open Compute Project, we are glad to welcome you to our community. There are several ways to get involved with OCP. We encourage everyone to take a look at the [OCP website] and to sign up for our mailing lists, IRC channels and to participate in the projects meetings.

OCP INCUBATION COMMITTEE (IC)

The Incubation Committee, reviews and approves all new specs which are submitted to the OCP Foundation for inclusion.

The IC Chair and Vice-Chair positions are appointed by the OCP Foundation Board.

In 2014, the eight (8) IC seats that mirror the eight (8) OCP Projects will become member elected seats. For more information on the community election process go to: http://www.opencompute.org/wiki/Governance

About OCP Regional Communities (RC)

As the OCP Community continues to grow and expand the RCs are here to help groups of OCP adopters, innovators, thought leaders and users collaborate together in regional communities to help advocate, promote, translate, develop and drive change and innovation in, near, and around the data center its hardware, software, management and more.

The RCs will work with the main OCP projects but organize in local communities. The RCs do not take the place of the top level projects and participation in these communities does not grant automatic OCP membership. OCP Membership is administered through the OCP Foundation. If you have any questions about becoming an OCP Member please see the link below or email the OCP community manager, Amber Graner with any questions, comments or feedback.
