Open Network Linux

Initially proposed at Open Compute Project Engineering Workshop in San Antonio by Big Switch Networks in 2013, Open Network Linux (ONL) is is a Linux distribution for "bare metal" switches.

Adopted by the Open Compute Project in 2014, ONL is the reference Network Operating System for the Open Compute Project.

Hardware Support

ONL currently supports 110+ Networking Switches of which many are either OCP Accepted or Inspired.

Certification

ONL maintains a certification program for validation of network switch hardware with ONL. A designation of ONL Certified is applied to switches that pass ONL conformance testing. A separate Gold status certification is available to vendors who provide materials for ongoing testing.

The generic ONL testing guide is located Here
