The OCP Foundation is excited to announce that Bryan Kelly (Microsoft) and Nate Klein (Google) have been selected to serve as the Project Leads for the OCP Security Project. Bill Carter, OCP CTO will serve as the interim Incubation Committee representative.

The OCP Foundation is excited to announce that Brevan Reyher (Rackspace) will replace Robert Bunger (Schneider Electric) as the Project Lead for the Data Center Facility Project. Robert Bunger has moved into the role of Incubation Committee Representative, and will continue to provide support and guidance to Brevan Reyher and the Data Center Facility Project.

The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) announces today the preliminary results of an assessment of the market impact of the Open Compute Project worldwide. OCP has engaged IHS Markit, a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, to determine the adoption and impact of OCP gear in the technology industry. Since its inception, OCP has worked to drive innovation in and around the data center industry, bringing together nearly two hundred member organizations and thousands of engineers. The demands on the modern datacenter continue to expand with the growth of IOT, security and edge computing, as well as increasing energy consumption requirements.

The OCP Foundation and community is effective because of our members who give of their time, talent and resources. Each of our members plays an important role in accelerating the consumption of OCP gear, as well as the continued cultivation of collaboration efforts of the project communities and the increasing quality and openness of the contributions to OCP. We can’t say, “thank you” enough!
As part of our ongoing effort to keep our OCP Community updated, we are going to be running a blog series called "OCP Summit Track News."

Tencent has joined the Open Compute Project (OCP) community as a Platinum member, to actively embrace the global open-source ecosystem. Tencent intends to share its infrastructure design and technologies, promote cross-enterprise development and further adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

Last year, the OCP Summit opened its doors to nearly 3,000 people and 88 members. We spoke of hardware and solutions that were available in ONE PLACE and that various industries were investing in open technologies and in OCP.

The OCP Community is an ever evolving, innovating and thriving community. However, we now have special circumstances requiring a special election. In this case, our HPC Community requires your help. Both our project leads have left their current companies and moved on to do amazing things at their new companies. Given their new ventures are taking them in a different direction, they have opted to step down from their leadership roles. This group is now in need of a new Project Lead(s).

The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) announces today the election of Mark Roenigk (Infrastructure Hardware Lead title at Facebook) to serve as the Chair of the Board of Directors. Mark replaces Jason Taylor (Vice President of Infrastructure Foundation at Facebook), who has served for the past two years. During his tenure as Chief Operating Officer of Rackspace, Mark was one of the founding board members of OCP. Mark Roenigk is one of the founding board members of OCP during his tenure as Chief Operating Officer of Rackspace.
